Sophomore earns first career ECAC weekly award
NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College sophomore third baseman Emily Bouthillette (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Player of the Week, it was announced yesterday by the league office.
Bouthillette guided Wheaton to a 6-0 week overall and 4-0 mark in league play with a .684/.667/1.526 slash line (.avg/.obp/.slg), ten runs, 13 hits, four doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI, one walk and a perfect fielding percentage on 16 chances (4 PO, 12 A).
Bouthillette collected three hits and four RBI in three separate games over the course of the week and had at least one hit and one RBI in all six contests. Against Smith College in game two of a doubleheader on April 17, Bouthillette went 3-for-3 with three runs, two homers and four RBI.
For her efforts last week, Bouthillette also earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week accolades for the first time in her career on Monday as well.
Bouthillette currently has a .495/.514/1.000 slash line to go along with 32 runs, 46 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 49 RBI, seven walks and three stolen bases.
Bouthillette entered yesterday's doubleheader against Rhode Island College ranked No. 7 in the country in slugging percentage and sacrifice flies (4), No. 20 in RBI, and No. 24 in doubles per game (0.48), home runs and home runs per game (0.29). In the NEWMAC, Bouthillette is first overall in doubles, home runs, RBI, total bases, sacrifice flies and slugging percentage.
Wheaton (28-3, 17-0 NEWMAC) travels to Wellesley College on Friday, April 24 at 5 p.m. to continue a suspended game from April 10 in the top of the tenth inning tied at 6-6. Bouthillette will enter Friday's contest on an eight-game hitting streak.
