BOSTON, Mass. - Wheaton College junior first baseman Caroline Fairbanks has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Player of the Week after a standout performance for the Lyons this weekend.
Fairbanks helped Wheaton finish the week 4-2, which included a conference sweep of the Coast Guard Academy. The junior was 12-of-18 from the plate with five home runs and a double, while also walking three times. Fairbanks scored seven times and collected nine RBI's.
With her five home runs over the weekend, the junior is now tied for first in the NEWMAC in home runs with nine.
Wheaton returns to the field on Tuesday, April 12 for a double-header at Bridgewater State. Game one is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
