Brickley Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

Senior earns first career weekly honor

NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College senior forward Abbie Brickley (Sandy, Utah/Skyline) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the league office.

Brickley guided Wheaton to the Cheryl Warren-Powers '95 Memorial Tournament championship by averaging 17 points per game, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks. Brickley, who claimed CWP Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors for the second-straight season, also moved into tenth place on the all-time career points list at Wheaton as well over the weekend.

Brickley surpassed Allison Yelle '88 with her 34 points over both games to give her 1,052 total in her career (80 games played). Yelle finished her four-year career with 1,049 points.

Wheaton (2-0) travels to Newbury College on Wednesday, November 19 at 6 p.m.
