Brickley Collects NEWMAC Player of the Week accolades

Senior earns 5th career NEWMAC weekly award

NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College senior forward Abbie Brickley (Sandy, Utah/Skyline) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced earlier today by the league office.

Brickley guided Wheaton to a 2-0 week (Feb. 16-22) averaging 24.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals alongside a 61.8 field goal percentage. Against Babson in the Lyons' regular season finale, Brickley helped the Blue and White secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament by scoring 31 points and hauling in six rebounds. Brickley has now scored 30 or more points in four games this season for the Lyons, two of which have come in conference games.

On the season, Brickley is averaging 19.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and a 55.7 field goal percentage. Brickley ranks first in the conference points per game, second in field goal percentage and sixth in rebounds per game. Nationally, Brickley ranks No. 31 overall among all NCAA Division III student-athletes in points per game, No. 23 in field goal percentage, No. 78 in double-doubles (10 total) and No. 161 in rebounds per game.

Wheaton (18-7, 13-3 NEWMAC) hosts Emerson College (12-13, 6-10 NEWMAC) on Wednesday, February 25 for a NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinal matchup at 7 p.m.
