NORTON, Mass.- The Lyons battled with MIT on Senior Day but ultimately fell 76-69 despite a season-high 27 points from Mikayla Pucci.
The senior trio of Natalie Wind, Ashley Hill, and Sara McLeman helped the Lyons jump out to a 24-15 first-quarter lead. Pucci led the Lyons with 27 points shooting 11-of-13 from the floor while grabbing 4 rebounds. First-year Bri Forbes came off the bench strong finishing with 18 points going 2-of-4 from behind the arc. Sadie Shore contributed with 7 points and 6 rebounds. Wind finished with 6 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers.
Pucci scored the Lyons first 10 points of the game evening the score at 10-10 with 4:24 remaining in the first quarter. Shortly after, Hill knocked down a three-pointer to give the Lyons their first lead at 13-10. McLeman converted a layup to give the Lyons a 7 point lead with 1:49 remaining in the first quarter. After taking a 9 point lead into the second quarter, Wind knocked down a three to put the Lyons in up 27-15. After a late bucket from Forbes, the Lyons took a 32-29 lead going into halftime. MIT had a strong third quarter outscoring the Lyons 27-15 and taking a 9 point lead into the fourth quarter. The Lyons fought their way back into the game trailing by only four, 71-67 with 1:32 remaining. The effort late in the game from the Lyons was not quite enough as MIT hung on to win 76-69.
