GRAND LAKE, Colo. - The Wheaton College women's lacrosse team was one of 339 schools across all three NCAA division and the NAIA to earn a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the 2017-18 academic year. To qualify, programs needed to post a 3.0 or higher team grade point average during the academic year.
Individually, the Lyons had senior Megan Hemmerlein earn a spot on the IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. Hemmerlein was eligible for the honor after earning a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout the year. Honorees must also be a junior, senior or graduate student.
Hemmerlein, who was one of three Lyons to earn New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference honors, finished 16th in the NEWMAC in draw controls (41), 23rd in groundballs (30), and 27th in caused turnovers (18).
Wheaton ended the season 8-10 overall and 5-3 in the NEWMAC after falling in the conference quarterfinals.
