Schwartzman and Sharick Honored by IWLCA

GRAND LAKE, Colo. - The IWLCA honored 653 student-athletes from 173 different institutions on the 2019 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Representing the Lyons were juniors Kyra Schwartzman and Meg Sharick

Schwartzman competed in 18 games, starting 16 of them. She totaled 53 goals and nine assists for 62 total points while going 7-of-15 from the free position. Collected 34 groundballs.

Sharick appeared in 17 games, starting 10 of them for Wheaton, recording eight goals and one assist for nine points. She also recorded 19 groundballs and 12 caused turnovers.

Wheaton ended the season with a 7-11 overall record and 4-4 conference mark, earning the No. 5 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament. Wheaton defeated Coast Guard in the quarterfinals before slipping to Babson in the semifinals. The Lyons have now advanced to the NEWMAC tournament 21 consecutive seasons.
