#24 Women’s Soccer Snaps Win Streak

NORTON, Mass. – The No. 24 ranked Wheaton College women's soccer team snapped its undefeated season in a 2-0 loss to the No. 18 ranked Brandeis College Judges on Thursday.

The Lyons (5-1) had to stay on their toes during the first half as the Judges (6-0) maximized their offensive efforts. Brandeis knocked in the first goal to the left corner of the net six minutes in the game, forcing Wheaton's defense to stay alert.

Sophomore Megan Healy took her chance for a goal with a hard shot, but was snatched up by Brandeis goalkeeper Alexis Grossman.

In the final minutes of the first half, senior Julia Cipriano and Healy put forth a couple more shots for Wheaton, but came up empty before entering the second half.

The Lyons started the second half trying to regain the momentum as junior Sydney Ferrell, senior Tess Weyburne and Cipriano added pressure to the Judges defense tallying up more shots.

Brandeis knocked in one more goal in the 88th minute, holding off Wheaton for the 2-0 win.

First-year goalkeeper Leann Wolf (5-1) collected nine saves.

Wheaton brings the action back home at Mirrione Stadium on Tuesday as they take on Colby-Sawyer at 4 p.m.
