NORTON, Mass. - Two second half goals guided the Wheaton College women's soccer team to its sixth straight win, as the Lyons defeated visiting Simmons College 2-0 Thursday evening at Christina Mirrione '00 Stadium.

The last time the Lyons opened the season undefeated through six games was in 2012 when the team opened 13-0-2, en route to an appearance in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Lyons (6-0) came out strong and never let up, finishing the game with advantages in shots (27-4) and corner kicks (9-0).

Despite rattling off 13 shots in the first half, the Lyons were not be able to put one past Simmons (1-3-1) goalkeeper Casey Halle, who finished the game with seven saves.

Wheaton continued to put pressure on the Sharks in the second half, but did not break the scoreless draw until the 75th minute, when first-year Aymara O'Brien-Pappalardo unloaded one from the right side into the far post. The goal is the first of the season for the midfielder.

Junior Megan Healy added the insurance goal in the 84th minute with her team-leading sixth goal of the season. The goal came on a Carly Costello corner kick. Costello sent the ball into the box where first-year Noelle Perciballi one touched it to Healy who blasted it into goal.

The Lyons return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. for a non-conference match-up with Maine Maritime.
