KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Wheaton College women's soccer players Hannah Lepordo and Megan Healy have both been named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-New England Region teams as announced by the organization on Wednesday. Lepordo, a first-year forward, earned a spot on the second-team, while Healy, a senior captain, made the third-team. This is the first USC All-Region honor for both players.
Lepordo, who started and played in all 19 games for Wheaton, ended the season with a team-high 12 goals, en route to a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-Conference nod. Lepordo finished with the second most goals in the NEWMAC, which was the most scored by a freshman. She also dished out six assists for 30 points, while ending the season with four game-winning goals, which was the third most in the NEWMAC.
Healy, who played in and started all 19 games for the Lyons, picks up her first USC All-Region honor after netting six goals on the season while dishing out seven assists for 19 points. Healy ended the season ranked third in the NEWMAC in assists and 10th in total points, earning the senior her first NEWMAC All-Conference First-Team honor. Healy will also compete in the NEWISA Division III Senior Bowl on Sunday, December 3 at Merrimack College at 2 p.m. The senior was one of 21 players chosen to represent 20 different schools.
Lepordo and Healy are two of just nine NEWMAC players to earn a spot on an All-New England Region team. In all, 45 athletes were named to the 2017 All-New England Region first, second and third team.
The Lyons ended the season with a 15-3-1 overall record and 8-2 NEWMAC standing. The Lyons made their 20th straight trip to the NEWMAC Tournament where they defeated WPI in the quarterfinals.
