Senior collects first career honor
NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College senior Adrianne Madden (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Swimmer of the Week, it was announced yesterday.
At the two-day Wheaton Invitational last weekend, Madden took part in four separate first place finishes including a pair of relays and individual events. Madden touched first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.35-seconds and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.43. Madden also aided the Lyon's 200-yard freestyle relay to first place honors in 1:40.06 and the 400-yard medley relay in 4:13.04.
On Monday, Madden was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimmer of the Week for her efforts in the pool last weekend. Madden and the rest of her teammates in the 200-free relay also collected NEWMAC Relay Team of the Week accolades as well.
Madden, who picks up her first career ECAC Division III New England Swimmer of the Week award, has been named the NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week twice this season and has been a member of all four of Wheaton's NEWMAC Relay Team of the Week selections. Madden owns two individual school records in the 50-free (23.70) and the 100-back (59.69) along with school records in the 400-free relay (3:33.38) and the 200-medley relay (1:48.28).
Wheaton returns to action on Thursday, February 20 for day one of the NEWMAC Championships, hosted by WPI, at 5:45 p.m. The following three days of the event will all begin with time trials at 10 a.m. and finals later on in the evening.
