800 Relay Team Sets New School Record on Day One of NEWMAC Championships

LOCATION: Cambridge, Mass. (MIT)

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • The Lyons 800 relay team started things off on a positive note for Wheaton, finishing in third place with both an NCAA B cut and Wheaton school record time. The team of Aleza EpsteinEva Pet, Lydia DaCorte, and Jenna Hayden touched in 7:38.04, which is nearly 10 seconds faster than the Wheaton school record time.
  • The Wheaton B relay (Maggie LawlerAlexa ResetarRowan Rice, and Caitlin Daley) also put in a solid race, coming from behind to finish with an overall time of 7:54.49.    
  • Wheaton is currently in third place with 58 points, which is just two points behind Coast Guard (60) and six behind the host Engineers of MIT who are in first place with 64 points. 

UP NEXT: Wheaton returns to action on Friday, Feb. 23 for day two of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships.
