Duo went 2-0 last week at the No. 1 position
NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College women's tennis senior captain Alexandra Marlowe (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) and sophomore Amanda Brazell (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) have been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week by the league office, it was announced earlier today.
Playing at the No. 1 position in both matches, Marlowe and Brazell posted an 8-1 victory over Alanna Judd and Lauren Candia from Nichols College last Tuesday and also defeated Margaux Holloschutz and Ishita Tibrewal of Mount Holyoke College on Saturday by a score of 9-8 (7-4) to aid Wheaton to its first conference win of the year.
Marlowe went on to pick up a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Holloschutz in the No. 1 slot in singles play, while Brazell breezed to a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Sarah Anischik at No. 2.
Marlowe is now a seven-time NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week selection, which includes five selections with Lyndsay Cooke '14 (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) and one with Brazell.
Wheaton (1-2, 1-0 NEWMAC) hosts Springfield College on Saturday, September 13 for a conference match on the Clark Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
