- The ITA tournament, hosted this year by Williams College, opened with 19 schools in attendance from around the northeast. 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams competed on Friday, with two rounds of singles and one round of doubles. Due to the morning rain, matches were held at both the Bennington (VT) Tennis Center and Lansing Chapman Rink on campus at Williams. The tournament featured several athletes from the nations top tennis programs.
- Wheaton received a stellar performance from senior Ines de Bracamonte who opened with a defeat over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Rachel Ahlmeyer of Springfield 6-1, 6-0. The senior then picked up a second-round victory, taking down Tasha Christ of Bowdoin 6-2, 6-4. de Bracamonte returned in the round of 16, where she took down Emily Zheng of Williams 6-4, 0-6, 6-3, moving her into the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, de Bracamonte battled Caroline Garridon of Tufts to a 3-6, 2-6 loss.
- Connor O'Keefe also competed in the tournament, taking on Kara Stankewitz of Nichols who earned a win over the Lyon senior.
- O'Keefe and de Bracamonte teamed up in doubles action falling to a pair from Colby.
UP NEXT: Women's tennis returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 4 with a match against Endicott at 4 p.m. at the Clark Tennis Courts.
