NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College senior women's tennis player Ines de Bracamonte earned her place into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional and National rankings following her play during the fall half of the Lyons 2018-19 schedule.

In the first rankings of the season, de Bracamonte is ranked 12th in the region, joining former Wheaton tennis standouts Sarah GeocarisCatherine TeagueLindsay Cooke, and Alex Marlowe as some of the only members of the women's team to break into the top-25 regional rankings, which began in 2008. 

The senior is also ranked 44th in the nation, which marks just the second time in program history that a Lyon has broken into the top-50 in the country. The other Lyon to do so was Ashely Kriwinsky in 2003. 

de Bracamonte opened the fall portion of the season with a defeat over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Rachel Ahlmeyer of Springfield 6-1, 6-0 at the ITA Regionals. The senior then picked up a second-round victory, taking down Tasha Christ of Bowdoin 6-2, 6-4. de Bracamonte returned in the round of 16, where she took down Emily Zheng of Williams 6-4, 0-6, 6-3, moving her into the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, de Bracamonte battled Caroline Garridon of Tufts to a 3-6, 2-6 loss. 

Wheaton returns to the court in March for the traditional half of the season which is set to begin on March 3 at Bates.
