MacGregor Leads Women's Track and Field at Division III New England Championships with Record Setting Performance

LOCATION: Williamstown, Mass. 

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Cathryn MacGregor earned All-New England Honors with her second place finish in the javelin with a huge personal record toss of 44.18m. MacGregor's toss broke Kirsten Larsen's 15-year-old school record set back in 2004. Her toss of 44.18m also currently places her fourth in the nation. 
  • Maddie Amero also garnered All-New England Honors in the javelin with a toss of 37.99m placing her seventh overall. 
  • Ellen Shaw kept the momentum going for Wheaton with her fifth-place finish in the 100m Hurdles. Her time of 15.19 also earned her All-New England Honors.
  • Kathrine Leckbee had a huge PR in the 3000m Steeple Chase with an eight-second improvement from last week, running a time of 11:21.49, capturing All-New England Honors as well with her sixth-place finish. 
  • Briana Gausland earned All-New England Honors in the 200 meters, placing seventh overall with a time of 25.65. She was closely followed by teammate Alexandra Case in ninth place with a time of 26.07. 
  • In the 100 meters, Gausland ran a time of 12.55 placing her 11th overall while being closely followed again this time by teammate Margaret Walker who had a big PR of 12.63. 
  • Emma Yount had the challenging task of running her second straight 10,000 meters but she showed she was up for the task, placing 11th overall with her second-best time ever of 40:33.95. 

UP NEXT: The Lyons will travel to Southern Conn. State University on Friday, May 10, where they will compete in the Open New England Championship.
