NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Wheaton College women's track & field team had three athletes, Briana Gausland, Katherine Leckbee, and Cathryn MacGregor earn United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors during the 2019 season.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
- Finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
The academic honors come after both Leckbee and MacGregor were named to the USTFCCCA All-Region teams for their performances during the course of the season.
Leckbee put in her best steeplechase performance at the MIT Division III Final Qualifying Meet on May 16, finishing the event in 11:12.78. The time was the 30th best in all of Division III.
MacGregor, who earned Wheaton's Dean Sue Alexander Female Senior Student-Athlete honor, was the only Lyon to compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio after finishing the season ranked fifth in the javelin. The senior finished with a throw of 40.27m (132-01). MacGregor's throw was better than her 2018 throw at nationals which traveled 40.05m (131-05).
Gausland ended the season ranked 49th in the nation in the 100m with a time of 12.33 at the New England Outdoor Championships in May.
