Wescott Takes Home the W in Pentathlon Debut

MEDFORD, Mass. - Sophomore Hannah Wescott made her collegiate debut Friday night in the Pentathlon at the Tufts Branwen Smith-King Invitational. Wescott got her night going by finishing 2nd overall in the 60m hurdles running a time of 9.57.  In the second event of the night, she kept that momentum rolling in the high jump tying her season-best with a jump of 1.56m which placed her second overall again. In the third event, the shot put Wescott finished third overall with a throw of 9.23m. The fourth event of the night was the long jump where Wescott continued her great night by finishing third overall with a jump of 4.73m. Wescott concluded her night in the 800m run with a time of 2:49.54. Wescott finished the night scoring 2917 points which qualify her for the Division III New England Regionals and she currently sits at 14th in the country in the event. 

Across town, senior Briana Gausland was competing at the All-New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center. Gausland won her preliminary section of the 60m dash in a time of 7.84 which qualifies her for tomorrow's semi-finals which go off at 10:55 am. Sophomore Margaret Walker was making her collegiate debut at the All-New England Championships and she also competed in the 60m dash just barely missing out on tomorrow's semi's finishing in a time of 7.94 just off her season-best. 
 
Sophomore Nina Schofield also made her debut at the All-New England Championships competing in the 60m hurdles where she finished with her second-best time of the year running a 9.37.
