Sophomore Margaret Walker has officially qualified for the NCAA Division III National Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The Championship will be held March 13th-14th in Winston Salem, North Carolina at the JDL Fast Track.
Walker will be competing on Friday, March 13th at 4:05 pm in the 60-meter dash prelims. The 60-meter dash finals will go off on Saturday, March 14th at 3:40 pm. To make the final they will be taking the winner of each of the three preliminary heats and then the next five fastest after that.
Walker a psychology major from Providence, Rhode Island will be making her first trip to the NCAA Division III Championships. She will be going in ranked 19th out of 20 qualifying athletes. Walker qualified with her time at the Tufts National Qualifier this past Saturday running the third-fastest time in Wheaton College history of 7.74. She is one of two women in the event that will be representing the New England Region the other being Kiara Tan of Williams College.
The last time the Lyons were at the Indoor Division III National Championships was back in 2018 when Raevyn Fontaine and Elizabeth Akindolie represented the Lyons in the 60 meter hurdles and the triple jump. Fontaine finished 4th overall in the 60-meter hurdles bringing home All-American honors. Akindolie finished 11th overall in the triple jump.
The last time the Lyons had an athlete compete in the 60 meter-dash at the NCAA Division III Championships was back in 2013 when Amanda Claflin finished 6th overall bringing home All-American honors in a time of 7.73.
