Junior guided Wheaton to a 3-0 week
NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College junior outside hitter/setter Deirdre Wilson (Aptos, Calif./Aptos) has been selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Co-Player of the Week by the league office. Wilson shares the award with Clark University first-year student-athlete Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/CPN).
Wilson guided Wheaton to a 3-0 week (1-0 NEWMAC) with a pair of triple-doubles, 3.00 kills per set, 5.08 assists per set, 2.42 digs per set and 0.42 blocks per set. Against Coast Guard, Wilson notched her first of two triple-doubles on the week with 11 putaways, 22 assists and ten digs. Wilson also notched 19 kills, 19 assists and 13 digs versus Western Connecticut State in the nightcap of a tri-match last Saturday.
On the season, Wilson is averaging 3.11 kill per set, a .291 hitting percentage, 3.85 assists per set, 2.93 digs per set and 0.60 blocks per set. Wilson has compiled seven triple-doubles this season for the Lyons. In her career, Wilson has tallied 621 kills, 1,107 assists, 783 digs and 124 blocks (110 block assists).
Wheaton (15-10, 4-3 NEWMAC) hosts Clark University next Tuesday on "Dig Pink Night" inside Emerson Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
