Volleyball Opens Jim Coleman Invitational With Two Losses

AURORA, Ill. - The Wheaton College volleyball team opened the Jim Coleman Invitational hosted by Aurora University on Friday afternoon with two 3-0 losses. 

The Lyons fall to 3-5 on the season after falling 3-0 to the hosts in their first match and then Central (Iowa) by the same score in game two. 

vs. AURORA (16-25, 17-25, 22-25)
The Lyons were led by six kills from Kendall Jacobs and four from Elise Waelder and Claire Cansler. Cari Sheets finished the match with all 22 of Wheaton's assists, while Waelder led all players with four blocks.

Peyton McKenzie and Lauren Marsh had a match-high nine kills for Aurora and Emily Lines led the team with 16 assists.

vs. CENTRAL (Iowa) (16-25, 15-25, 14-25)
Taylor Matook finished with four kills for the Lyons, while Casey Hess had three.

Jenna Dille and Nicole Ewoldt led Central with a match-high seven kills.

Wheaton returns to the court on Saturday, Sept. 12 where the team will take on Benedictine and Simpson for the conclusion of the invite. The Benedictine match is set for 10 a.m. (CST).
