NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College volleyball team put on a good show Tuesday night as they hosted the No. 23 ranked Babson Beavers in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) battle in Emerson Gymnasium. Despite winning the opening set 25-17, the Lyons fell to the Beavers 3-1 after dropping the final three sets 22-25, 11-25, 24-26.
With the loss, the Lyons fall to 14-9 on the season and 4-3 in league play, while the Beavers improve to 20-1 on the year and 6-1 in the NEWMAC.
Julia Palomba finished tied with a match-high 13 kills, while Casey Dinga chipped in nine, Bailey Madrzyk seven, and Haley McCreight six. Becca Houghton picked up 32 assists in the contest while coming up with 12 digs and a block. Sophie Wilhelm led the team with 22 digs, while Palomba and Adara Hamilton each had 19. Dinga ended the match with four blocks.
