Women's Cross Country Defeats Babson in Season Opening Dual

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • The Wheaton College women's cross country team opened the 2018 season with a dual meet against New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Babson on Friday evening with the Lyons coming out on top after scoring 21 points to the Beavers 37. 
  • First-year Katherine Leckbee paced the Lyons, winning the two-mile race with a time of 12:15. 
  • Gina Pardi returned to action after with a big second place finish, crossing the line in 12:28.
  • The Beavers Hannah Piispanen and Vivian Lehman were the top finishers for Babson, taking home third and fourth place respectively. 
  • Wheaton then took the next four places, starting with first-year Allie Demers (12:58), who was followed by Rebecca Miceli (13:03), Emma Yount (13:06), and Chelsea El-Hajj (13:07). 

UP NEXT: The Lyons return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the UMass.-Dartmouth Invitational.
